1st Team Miss Out in Cup Final
Surrey Elite Imtermediate Challenge Cup Final
Horsley 0; Coulsdon Town 1
Unfortunately the 1st team lost a tight cup final played at Carshalton Athlectic today.
After a mix up with kits before the game meaning that Coulsdon who turned up in the wrong colours had to play in Carshalton shirts a tight match followed. Coulsdon probably shaded the first half with the only clear chance from a free kick that was headed just wide.
Horsley who didn't really play at the standard they had set for themselves during the regular season were better in the second half but chances from both teams were few and far between and Horsley keeper Clark Gooding was only called upon once to save a soft header directed straight at him.
But it was Cousldon that took the lead with 15 minutes to go when good work on the right opened up a simple tap in for the 1 goal lead which proved to be all that was needed. Horsley pushed for an equaliser but could only muster a header which was directed just wide. Cousldon Town probably deserved the win with more of the game and converting the one clear chance and our congratulations go to them.
However, both the 1st Team and Reserves can rightly be pleased with their seasons. The 1st team were runners-up in both the league and cup and of course the Reserves are league champions. Well done to first team manager Gary Millar in particular who along with reserve manager Adam Burlison, the other coaches and of course the players have created an adult set up which Horsley can be proud of.
