Horsley U17's Visit Woking FC
Recently Horsley U17 player Luke Hammond suffered a bad injury at a match against Byfleet.
After the match Horsley U17 manager Herbert Celen was contacted by Andy Laithwaithe a parent of one of the Byfleet players, and main sponsor of Woking FC. He was so impressed by how well Luke kept his calm whilst waiting for an ambulance to arrive, and the attitude of the other Horsley players as a whole, especially when they declined the option to play on deciding instead to wait until the ambulance had arrived and confirmed that Luke was alright.
Andy Laithwaithe felt that it demonstrated a wonderful team spirit and an attitude that needs to be encouraged, and he wanted to recognise and award this by inviting the U17s as his guests to a Woking FC game.
On Saturday 28th October the team along with a couple of parents attended the Woking v Guiseley match. They were invited to enjoy hospitality in the lounge (including a three course meal) and were allowed to watch the game at the main stand in plush leather seats. The team enjoyed a meet-and-greet with Woking's team manager Anthony Limbrick and Luke was invited to present an award to the man of the match after the game.
The boys (and parents) enjoyed the whole event and what a lovely gesture it was!
Thanks to Woking FC, Byfleet FC and particularly to Andy Laithwaithe (far right in photo below) for a great gesture and a fantastic day.
