13 April 2011

Horsley under 14’s held a combined presentation night on Wednesday 13th April after the B team concluded their fixtures and the A team were left with a single re-arranged game which could make them champions of Division 1.

The evening began with a challenge game, closely fought match between the A and B teams. The A team narrowly won 2-1 which showed how far the B team have come during the season.

U14B Team mangers Jamie Barber gave short reviews of the season and individual performances prior to announcing the awards. After thanking Phil Spencer for assisting at matches and with the coaching and Claire Spencer for all administration and organisation duties, Jamie thanked all the B team players for all their efforts over the season and the improvement of both individuals and the team during the course of the season.

Individual awards for the B team were then presented to Oliver Hind Clubman of the Season. Milo Flaherty Players Player of the Season and Managers Player of the Season went to Oli Munn.

Eddy Tipping the U14A team manager thanked parents, spectators and especially his assistant Steve Godman for help over the season. Eddy regarded good performances over the season were as a result of a tight knit squad, good team spirit and the fact that the players were all of a similar standard and all players deserved recognition for individual parts played during a very enjoyable and so far successful campaign.

Awards for the A team were then presented with Clubman of the Season going  to Toby Godman who was also regarded by the coaching staff as the most improved player over the season, proving to be a solid target man and problem for opposition defenders.

Managers Player of the Season went to ‘our rock at the back’ Nick Wilson who proved to be a great find having signed early in the season.

The manager then asked team captain Daniel Tipping to take over the proceedings and the Player’s Player of the Season award was presented to the popular playmaker and centre forward Sam Fenwick.

The event was concluded when Daniel announced that the new captain for next season would be Matty David who was delighted and surprised to receive the armband.
